Retaining magnets (Series 41)

Retaining magnets (Series 41)

The Emile Maurin magnetic components line consists of three product families : flat magnets , cylindrical magnets , and U-shaped magnets.

These components are used to hold, secure, or position parts on ferromagnetic surfaces without drilling or screwing. They can be used to secure a panel, hold a cover in place, keep a part in position during machining, or reposition an accessory as often as needed.

Flat and cylindrical magnets are available in a variety of mounting styles: threaded, bored, with a threaded shaft, with a hook, with a screw slot, or designed for aluminum profiles. They are available with zinc-plated steel, red-painted, stainless steel, or rubber casings, depending on the environment and the surface to be protected.

AlNiCo U-shaped magnets provide a magnetic contact surface on two sides, ensuring a stronger hold on irregularly shaped parts.
Four magnetic materials are available depending on the required strength and conditions: hard ferrite , AlNiCo (aluminum-nickel-cobalt), SmCo (samarium-cobalt), and NdFeB (neodymium-iron-boron), with forces ranging up to 1,750 N . [ Read more ]
FAQ - Industrial Magnets

Which magnetic material should you choose ?
NdFeB (neodymium) offers the highest strength in a compact size, making it ideal when space is limited. SmCo is more resistant to high temperatures and corrosion. AlNiCo can withstand high temperatures but has lower strength. Ferrite is the cost-effective solution for holding applications with no special requirements.

What is the purpose of magnetic shielding ?
Shielding channels the magnetic field toward the contact surface and prevents surrounding objects from becoming magnetized. It is recommended when used near electronic components, sensors, or sensitive tools, and also increases the effective holding force.

Threaded, bored, or stud magnets: which one should you choose ?
A threaded magnet is secured with a screw from the part being fastened. A bored magnet is secured to its mounting surface with a through-screw. A stud magnet is screwed directly into an existing threaded hole. The choice depends on the accessibility and structure of the mounting surface.

What type of protection should be used to preserve the contact surface ?
Rubber protection prevents scratches and increases effective frictional grip on painted sheet metal or finished surfaces. Stainless steel is recommended in humid or corrosive environments. Zinc-plated or red-painted steel is suitable for standard industrial applications.
